Flagger calls out unruly driver
A flagger at a construction site reported to the Kalispell Police Department that a large man yelled at her and told her that if she wasn’t a woman, he’d knock her out. She reported this took place after she had tried to stop him from driving to allow traffic from the other direction move through. She said he also bumped into her with his vehicle, but she wasn’t injured.

This is a multi-application process and the applicant has submitted the following applications: Growth Policy Map Amendment - The applicants have applied for an amendment to the Kalispell Growth Policy Future Land Use Map on 40-acres of the 99-acre project site from "Suburban Residential" to "Urban Mixed Use." The subject property is currently designated as "Suburban Residential" on the entire 99-acres proposed to be developed. The amendment request is to change the 40-acres from "Suburban Residential" to "Urban Mixed Use" to accommodate the mixed use and apartment sites. Man accused of tossing explosives at Fourth crowd
A Belgrade man celebrating the July 4 holiday in Hungry Horse is facing a felony charge after law enforcement officials said he threw an explosive device at a crowd of people.
Drone flight goes on the fritz
A dispute involving a drone and a man’s protective dog, a boxer named Fritz, had the Kalispell Police Department involved. The drone operator was operating the unit at the middle school when it flew over a fence on to a man’s property. It stayed there for about nine seconds and recorded video footage while the man was sunbathing. The drone operator said the homeowner confronted him and sent his dog on him. The homeowner, who is disabled, said he didn’t send his dog after the drone person, but that the dog was just defending him. The officer spoke to both respective parties about drone use and dog behavior.

Bicyclist injured in alleged hit-and-run
According to a Kalispell Police report, the driver of a new Toyota 4Runner reportedly hit a bicyclist on a bypass exit. A witness said they saw the alleged victim on the ground on the ramp, bleeding from his mouth and nose but conscious and talking. The man was reportedly taken to the hospital for treatment.

The effort to remove non-native fish species from Flathead Lake
On a boat on the southern half of Flathead Lake, a small tribal fishing crew is waging a slow battle. As gears turn, a carefully placed gill net is hauled into the boat. Mostly lake trout and whitefish are tangled in the net, writhing in the open air. Crewmembers untangle the fish and toss them into their respective bins, removing them from the lake’s population and moving one step closer to accomplishing their goal: restoring the populations of native westslope cutthroat trout and bull trout in the largest freshwater lake west of the Mississippi.

Mail carrier takes no chances with Fido
A mail carrier and an aggressive-looking dog had a run-in that resulted in the dog getting maced and the Kalispell Police Department receiving a phone call. It all began when a 8-year-old girl told her mother that a man came up to the fence, sprayed the dog and told her not to touch the dog. The dog was rubbing its face with its paws and on the ground, but seemed OK. An officer did confirm with the postmaster that one of his carriers did pepper spray the canine because he felt threatened.

The Honorable Robert Keller “Bob” was born Dec. 5, 1927, in Bellefonte, Pennsylvania, to Ellis and Marguerite Keller, and passed away peacefully on July 3, 2018, at the Libby Care Center in Libby. Bob grew up in Baltimore and Pittsburgh, and moved back to State College, Pennsylvania, his junior high school year, graduating in 1945. He attended Penn State University where he was active in campus politics and boxing, and earned a pre-law degree in 1950 with one military service interruption (Air Force at the end of World War II). Upon graduation, Bob was commissioned in the Army, serving two tours in Korea as a tank commander where he earned the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and was wounded in action, earning the Purple Heart and a medical retirement. In December 1952, Bob married his high school classmate, Susan Bissey, in Colorado while on leave from the Army.

The lines started forming before noon Thursday, hours before President Donald Trump’s scheduled 4 p.m. arrival at Four Seasons Arena in Great Falls.
