Creston Auction is today and Sunday

The 39th Annual Creston Auction and Country Fair and the accompanying RV, Marine, Auto & Equipment Sale is this weekend in Creston, 12 miles east of Kalispell on Montana 35.

Hot food will be available both days. Limited inside seating will be available today only.

This annual fund-raiser also includes a raffle for a rifle, handmade quilt or hog. The drawing will be held Sunday afternoon.

The Creston Auction and Country Fair is sponsored by the Creston Firefighters Association, a nonprofit organization.

Boat safety course offered at The Smmit

The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is offering a free boating safety course for teens and adults today from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Summit in Kalispell. A $15 course book will be available.

Recycling drive today at fairgrounds

The Kalispell Street Tree Commission's Semi-Annual recycling drive will be today at the Flathead County Fairgrounds. Money from the recycling drive will be used to purchase street trees for the community.

Bring your newspapers, magazines, office paper, cardboard, phone books and aluminum cans to the fairgrounds between 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Burns holds Social Security session

U.S. Senator Conrad Burns is hosting a social security listening session at 10 a.m. today in Kalispell to receive public input on the program's future. Burns will be joined by the Social Security Administration's Delia Lasanta. The event is open to the public and will be held in Flathead Valley Community College's Learning Resource Center Rooms beginning at 10 a.m.

Participation is also available via satellite at from the Flathead Valley Community College in Libby and the Lincoln County High School in Eureka.

Heupel to speak on Lewis and Clark

Laurie Heupel, longtime park ranger for the National Park Service and interpretive specialist at the Lewis and Clark Center in Great Falls, will speak about the Lewis and Clark expedition in Montana at 2:30 p.m. Sunday as part of the John White Lecture Series at the Museum at Central School in Kalispell.

Tickets are $8 for members of the Northwest Montana Historical Society and $10 for non-members, available at the museum. For more information, call 756-8381.
