WHITEFISH - Whitefish stayed perfect on the Class A softball season Tuesday, belting Browning 16-0 in a game-shortened to five innings by the 10-run rule.

Sophomore shortstop Sarah Vail led the WHS hit parade by going 4-for-4. She doubled and finished with 2 RBIs.

"She had a great day hitting," said WHS coach Aaron Phillips.

"She has a lot of power."

Whitefish, 3-0 in league games and overall, outhit Browning 16-2.

"The kids played well," said Phillips.

"They came out swinging the bats.

"We're still working on little things, base running and some fielding stuff," he continued.

"We have a long road ahead of us, but we're doing good so far."

Makayla Peck picked up her third circle victory, going the distance. She allowed just two hits while striking out nine.

Eleven errors doom Wildkats

COLUMBIA FALLS - Eleven errors.

The Columbia Falls Wildkat softball team committed 11 errors - including six in a disastrous sixth inning - en route to a 13-5 loss Tuesday to visiting Ronan.

"Their heads weren't in it," Columbia Falls coach Dave Kehr said of the Wildkats.

"They didn't come to play. You could see it."

"We had a lot of errors. We played much better against Polson. I think everybody threw one away except Vanesha (second baseman Riley)," the coach said.

"We've got to hit the ball and knock the errors down. We let their pitchers pitch with no one on - and a lead."

Columbia Falls pitcher Kym Island was a bright spot for the Wildkats - she walked just two batters and gave up only four hits.

Columbia Falls, 0-2, will play host at 4 and 6 p.m. Thursday to Eureka.
