Flathead County Sheriff's deputies investigated a theft of wedding rings from a residence on Gordon Avenue. A niece was suspected of the crime.

A man waving a closed pocketknife caused concern at the Columbia Falls garbage-disposal site on Monday morning. The person with the knife apparently was trying to discourage a motorist from stopping.

The fleet-of-foot owner of Woody's Country Store chased down a potential drive-off from the gas pump Monday. The effort netted $65 for gas.

A thief not only stole gas from Lake MacGregor Quarry but also took supplies and equipment off machines. A tree was also cut down.

A dump truck sparked some excitement behind McDonald's Restaurant in Whitefish when it knocked down a power pole.

A woman in Hungry Horse complained that a man was stalking her at her place of work late Sunday. She told deputies that she intended to get a restraining order.

A stinky fire at a salvage yard on Riverside Drive in Kalispell brought out several units from the Evergreen Volunteer Fire Department on Sunday evening. Firefighters found the stink was caused by a controlled burn in a barrel at the business.

Another stink was raised by a man in Ferndale who thought his neighbors had taken his dock. Deputies found his concerns unfounded.
