Whitefish Police Department detective Dan Frank has been promoted to sergeant.

Police Chief Bill Dial said Frank earned new stripes after 17 years with the department.

"It is very well deserved," Dial said. "He is a great detective. He does a lot for the community."

Frank will continue to work as one of the department's two detectives.
