Donald Lee Amundson

Donald Lee Amundson, 85, passed away Thursday, Dec. 15, 2005, at Immanuel Lutheran Home in Kalispell.

Don was born July 2, 1920, in Havre, to Anton and Minnie Lee Amundson. He was raised in the Bear Paw Mountains and graduated from Havre High School. After high school, he attended Montana State University. Don married Shirley Forbes at the First Presbyterian Church in Kalispell 59 years ago. He served as a bombardier with the U. S. Air Force. When he returned to the Flathead Valley, he went to work for Anaconda Aluminum Co. plant in Columbia Falls. He worked as the warehouse buyer, and retired after more than 30 years of service. He belonged to the Old Time Fiddlers and the Glacier Radio Control Club. His hobbies included fiddle repair and playing numerous musical instruments. He loved building remote-control airplanes, and especially flying them.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Anton and Minnie Amundson; one brother, Harold Amundson; and two sisters, Sadie Strand and Marie Gingery.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Shirley Amundson, of Kalispell; daughter, Stephanie Brousseau, of Billings; son, Arvin Amundson, of Kalispell; brothers and sisters Ione Amundson of Kalispell, Billie Lefferson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Louise Myles of Vancouver, Wash.; grandchildren Kimberly Plum, Christopher Amundson, Stacey Amundson, Nicole Brousseau, Travis Brousseau, Trena Boyd; great-grandchildren Carter, Ethan and Brooklyn Plum; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2005, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Ron Pierce officiating. Cremation will be after the services. The family requests that memorials in Don's name be given to the Glacier RCers in care of Ray Cunan, 20 E. Nicklaus, Kalispell MT 59901.
