C-Falls storms by Whitefish

WHITEFISH - The ball control offense worked, for awhile.

Eight minutes to be exact.

Whitefish's slow-down tactics resulted in a 16-9 first quarter lead for the hosts.

But it was all Columbia Falls after that.

The Wildcats (5-1 in league and 12-2 overall) exploded for 29 points in the second period to take a 38-23 halftime lead.

It was much of the same in the final half with Columbia Falls outscoring Whitefish (0-8 and 0-15) 37-22 en route to a 75-45 Northwestern A boys basketball victory Tuesday evening.

Columbia Falls featured a balanced attack with 11 players scoring. Jace Ladenburg and Anthony Minson shared scoring honors with 11 apiece.

Whitefish's Mike McCracken led all scorers with 15.

Columbia Falls is back in action Thursday hosting Libby (5-2 and 8-5). Whitefish's next contest is Friday entertaining Corvallis (4-8 overall).

Eagles 49, Lady Bulldogs 38

MISSOULA - Tracy Schwada scored 14 points and Tessa Kalfell added another 12, but the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs fell 49-38 Tuesday to Western AA Missoula Big Sky in a nonconference girls basketball contest.

The Lady Bulldogs (7-7, 4-3) play host Saturday to Southwestern A Corvallis.

Lady Crusaders top Stillwater

Charity Zemke scored 19 points and had 12 steals and Alyssa Sladek added 10 rebounds as the Flathead Home School Lady Crusaders wrapped up the regular basketball season with a 57-39 win Tuesday over Stillwater Christian School.

Janelle Sheeran added 15 points and Kelsey Sladek 10 points for the Crusaders, who finished 6-0 in conference, 18-1 overall.

Stacia Thompson paced the Lady Cougars with 10 points.
