Rough go for Bravettes

BROWNING - Tough night for the Flathead Bravettes.

The Bravettes knew before they got on the bus that Thursday's basketball game at Browning would be a rough one. They just didn't know how rough.

Not only did Flathead fall 51-45 to Central A Browning - leading scorer and rebounder Holli Hashley was injured and will be out for an unknown amount of time.

"It was a rough game. We expected it," Flathead coach Dennis Latimer said.

"It was a wild game, which plays into their hands more than ours," the coach said.

"The first half was pretty devastating."

Browning led 17-5 after the first quarter and 33-19 at half.

"But the second half our girls dug down and we had a good run back at them."

Hashley was right in the middle of the comeback - with six minutes to go, Flathead had cut the Indian lead to 11 - but was hurt going for a rebound.

Hashley fell and hit her head. Then, still groggy from the first blow, she tried to stand and fell again.

"She hit pretty hard,"Latimer said.

"It was a big blow tonight for us. We all love her and we really worry about her," he added.

It's nearly certain Hashley won't be in the lineup for the Bravettes' Saturday game at Butte - and the coach added he's not sure when she'll be able to return.

"We'll need some girls to step up," he said. "(Hashley) is scoring 17 points a game and the next one is (Lindsay) Bennett with six points (average)."

Bennett and Chaeney Latimer each scored seven points to lead the Bravettes.
