Dustin Leon Gravelle, 18, "began a new journey" on Saturday, Feb. 5, 2005, in Kalispell. He was born on Oct. 3, 1986, in Spokane, to Orlin Leon and Vicki Jo (Blatchley) Gravelle.

Dustin was a junior at Flathead High School. He lettered in track and was involved in Young Life -- a Christian outreach organization.

Dustin had a strong adventurous spirit. He loved the outdoors, being on the lake, wakeboarding, snowboarding, 4-wheeling, hunting, weightlifting and spending time with his family and friends.

He is best known for his smile and his goofy personality.

He also enjoyed martial arts and was a brown belt in tae kwon do. His carefree attitude led him to take each day and live it to its fullest. He lived in the moment.

Dustin is survived by his parents, Orlin Leon and Vicki Jo Gravelle, of Kalispell; older sisters, Desiree Anne Gravelle, living in Minneapolis, and April Maurine Gravelle, living in Post Falls, Idaho; grandmothers, Betty Caldwell, living in Sitka, Alaska, and Maurine Gravelle, living in Post Falls; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins living here in Kalispell, Idaho, Alaska, and Oregon.

Dustin was preceded by his grandfathers, Leon Gravelle, Ned Blatchley and Tom Caldwell; as well as an uncle, Sam Gravelle.

Funeral services for Dustin will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 10, at the Christian Center/Assembly of God with Rev. James Bjork of Young Life, and Collin Mitts, a youth volunteer at Christian Center, officiating.

The family suggests memorial gifts be given to Young Life, P.O. Box 2328, Kalispell, MT 59903.

Arrangements are under the direction of Johnson Mortuary & Crematory.
