Columbia Falls boys end league play on high note

RONAN - Columbia Falls completed regular-season action Saturday by defeating Ronan 75-60 in Northwestern A boys basketball play.

Columbia Falls now heads to the divisional tournament as the top seed and with a first- round bye.

The tournament gets under way Wednesday in Ronan.

Kevin Boyer tossed in 23 points to lead Columbia Falls (8-2 in league and 15-3 overall).

LIBBY - A balanced offensive display, led by Blaine Baker's 16 points, carried Libby to a Northwestern A boys basketball victory Saturday afternoon over Polson.

Baker tallied 14 points in the final half as Libby outscored Polson 41-22.

The Loggers (7-3 in league and 12-6 overall) had five players in double figures scoring. George Mercer and Ken Orr both finished with 13, Jim Mee followed with 12 and Aaron Sutton added 10.

Libby connected on eight treys in the contest with three by Orr.

Mercer also had 12 rebounds as Libby controlled the boards, 32-16.

Brandon Couture led Polson with 17 points, 11 coming in the final half.
