Harold E. Malson, 87

Harold E. Malson, 87, passed away on Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at Heritage Place in Kalispell.

Harold was born on Dec. 24, 1917, in Rockyford, Alberta, to Hiram E. and Roxy P. Malson. He attended grade school in Rockyford, and high school in Redland, Canada.

He worked as a farmer in Canada, before moving to the United States, where he worked as a civil engineer, heavy equipment operator in California and Montana. He worked for Glacier Concrete until he retired.

Harold married Vivian Garbe on Dec. 15,1943, at the Knox United Church in Calgary. He was a member of the Operating Engineers, the Northridge Church of God, local square dance club, and a member of the AARP.

He loved fishing, traveling, square dancing, and especially loved his family and friends. Harold knew no strangers.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Vivian, of Kalispell; a daughter, Darlene and her husband, Charles Scott, of Ankeny, Iowa; four grandchildren, Heidi, Brandi, Charlie and Anthony Scott, all of Ankeny; one sister, Kathryn Dietrich of Lakeside; five brothers, Ray Malson and Calvin Malson, both of Kalispell, Edward Malson of Ontario, Calif., Cecil Malson of Lakeside, and Eugene Malson, of Riverside, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 22, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Terry Harper officiating, burial will follow at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
