Evalyn Claire "Trudy" Zook, 86, of Polson, passed away Feb. 19, 2005. She was born in Beaumont, Texas, on Nov. 29, 1918, to Joseph and Belle (Boardman) Webb.

Trudy met the love of her life, Walter William Zook, on a train in Delhart, Texas. They were married April 19, 1945, and had 718 months of happiness.

Walt and Trudy traveled the northwest working in construction.

Trudy enjoyed reading, bowling, playing and teaching bridge, doing handcrafts and working crossword puzzles. She had worked as a cook at several locations throughout the valley. She was an excellent cook and no one ever left her table hungry, and everyone was welcome.

Trudy was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and a member of the Yellow Bay Club House on the East Lake Shore. As her children were growing up she was very involved in their lives, being a Cub Scout den mother and Girl Scout leader.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Leanne Zook; and a great-grandson, Hunter Zook.

Trudy is survived by her loving husband, Walt; her daughters, Glenda Gay Henson, Lynn and husband Jack Siple, and Trudy Faris; and sons, George Zook and wife Linda, and Gary Zook ; nine grandchildren, John Arthur, Patty, John, Lisa, Wendy, Lori, Nicole, Kevin and Larissa; and adopted grandkids, Jack Jr., Dana and Bryan; and nine great-grandkids; and her sister, Ruth Bush.

In their years of construction, Trudy and Walt had developed a special friendship with Aliene and Harvey Kirschbaum. Aliene became her second sister and will miss her tremendously. Aliene's kids, Cherry and husband Jack, Cindy and husband John, and Davy became her adopted kids.

Trudy will be loved and missed by family and friends.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to the Yellow Bay Club House or Bigfork/East Shore Lions.

Bigfork Funeral Home is caring for the family.
