Make that three out of the last four.

Great Falls' Scott Anderson ran away with the 70th annual Fourth of July golf tournament title Saturday by posting a decisive eight-shot victory.

The former Ohio State University golfer opened with a course record 65 on Thursday and followed that with back-to-back 68s Friday and Saturday for a 201 winning total.

Robb Bergeson of Billings finished second, 209, with Nick Obie of Havre a distant third, 220. Bergeson had the final day's low round, a 67.

Anderson and Bergeson were the only golfers to shoot in the 60s on Saturday.

Anderson was the lone individual to break 70 all three days. His 13-under par total is a new tournament record.

Anderson won back-to-back titles here in 2002 and 2003.

Last year's champion, Jeff Ballard of Billings, wound up in a four-way tie for 10th place at 225.

Ballard, who in 2004 won with a tournament record 10-under-par total, was sitting second, six shots behind Anderson, after Friday's play. But Ballard shot his way out of contention with an 86 for the final round.

Ryan Linnell of Kalispell finished fourth at 221 with Marty Mehl of Plano, Texas, Steve Gold of Whitefish and Caroll Lilly of Whitefish tied for fifth at 222.

On the women's side, Devon Newell repeated as 4th of July champ, closing with a 72 for a 221 total.

Kelly Gillum of Phoenix, Ariz., was second and eight shot back, 229, with Conrad's Jennifer Orcutt third, 230.

Newell last year won with a 219 total, besting Darah Newell by four shots. Darah Newell finished tied for ninth with Sara Ogle of Kalispell at 239.
