Cyclicts rev upat Majestic Valley

Rally Flathead Valley continues today and Sunday with a full schedule of motorcycle events at Majestic Valley Arena.

Doors open at 9 a.m. today and Sunday when bikers hit the burnout pits.

The Flathead's first biker build-off gets under way at 10 a.m., with contestants showing off their custom creations. Awards will be presented at 1 p.m. Sunday. A tattoo contest will be at 1 p.m. today.

The Rockaholics take the stage at 4 p.m., and afterward is Twisted Logic in the evening when Big Sky Biker Magazine sponsors its search for the first Rally Biker Babe at 9 p.m.

Bikes will be on display all weekend. There also are plenty of vendors and concessions, a pig roast tonight, and a cowboy breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m. Sunday with a motorcycle rodeo at 11 a.m.

Day passes are $15 with prices available for children and families.

Yard sale todaybenefits veterans

The Northwest Montana Veterans Food Pantry's yard sale continues from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. today with everything including antiques, vintage and new summer clothes, books and furniture.

All donations are tax deductible.

The sale is being held on the east side of the Shopko parking lot in Kalispell.

Red Belly Barbecue also is hosting a pig roast today.

All proceeds will go toward supporting local veterans and their families.

Annual arts fair continues today

The Artists and Craftsmen of the Flathead's annual Arts and Crafts Fair continues today and Sunday on the Kalispell Courthouse lawn.

A wide variety of handcrafted items and art are for sale, along with refreshments. Admission is free. Hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. today, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Winery hosts free picnic today

Mission Mountain Winery invites the public to a free picnic at the winery from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.

The winemaker will demonstrate the basics of food and wine matching as it pertains to summer foods, especially picnic fare.

Mission Mountain Winery is on U.S. 93 in Dayton on the west shore of Flathead Lake.

Theater gives free performance today

The Traveling Lantern Theatre Company will give a free performance of the classic children's story "The Sword and the Stone" at 10:30 a.m. today at Depot Park in Kalispell.

The performance is part of the Flathead County library system's summer-reading program for children, with the theme "Dragons, Dreams and Daring Deeds."

In case of rain, the performance will be at the Kalispell Library, 247 First Ave. E.

Reunion, picnicin Whitefish

Alumni, families and teachers are invited to the Canyon View Grade School and Half Moon reunion and potluck picnic from noon to 4 p.m. today at the Bohemian Grange Hall on U.S. 93 near Whitefish.

Bring your own silverware, plates and a dish to share.

Coffee and tea will be served or bring the beverage of your choice.

After lunch, "The Logging History of Stolze Land and Lumber Company" will be presented by Ron Buentemeier, Stolze general manager.

Benefit auction today for toddler

A benefit auction for 19-month-old Joey Kindel gets under way today at the Eureka Fairgrounds. Dinner begins at 2 p.m., and the auction begins at 3 p.m. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Joey, son of local residents Kenny and Paula Kindel, recently was diagnosed with a rare malignant tumor in his bladder and has been undergoing chemotherapy to shrink the tumor before surgery that is scheduled later this month.
