Flathead's 'Idol' finals begin Sunday night

The final rounds of the Flathead Valley version of "American Idol" begin at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Eagles ballroom in Kalispell.

"American Idol" is the popular FOX television reality series that allows viewers to vote for their favorite singers.

Thirteen contestants will vie for the top prize, a trip to the nearest "American Idol" 2006 audition, two nights lodging and $500 cash. The runner-up receives a trophy and $250. The shows are open to the public; audience members will get a chance to vote for their favorites. Contestants with the most votes will advance until a winner is chosen.

Tickets are $2 a person and can be purchased at the door beginning at 6:15 p.m.

Contestants include Kayla Van Bemmel of Eureka, Miriam Garner of Whitefish, Lean Murry of Columbia Falls, Israel Bissell and Kassi Hansen, both of Bigfork, and Kalispell finalists Deanna Satcher, Kerri Javorka, Kacie West, Nykole Davis, Elizabeth Seymour, Gary Hill, Elizabeth Helder and Diana Karnes.

Each singer will perform a song of their choice. The next show is at 7 p.m. Wednesday, also at the Eagles, 37 First St. W., in Kalispell.
