The ALERT helicopter evacuated two injured women from Glacier National Park's remote Hole-in-the-Wall area Thursday.

Public affairs officer Melissa Wilson said details about the incidents were sketchy.

But what is known is that Wednesday night, a person who was hiking with a group turned up at the Goat Haunt Ranger Station to report that a woman in the party was hurt and needed help.

At first light Thursday, a Goat Haunt ranger set out on horseback toward the rugged Hole-in-the-Wall area, located at least 10 air miles west of the Goat Haunt Ranger Station.

The ranger found there were actually two people hurt, apparently as the result of separate falls. One woman had a severely injured knee and another woman had suffered a back injury.

The ALERT helicopter was sent to the scene Thursday afternoon.
