Samuel H. "Sam" Hollis Sr. 84, passed away on Wednesday, July 20, 2005, at his home in Kalispell.

Sam was born on March 22, 1921, in Dallas, Texas. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Sam married Emma Sutton on March 22, 1946, in Dallas.

He was an advertising executive working for firms in San Francisco and Dallas.

He was the head art director for John F. Kennedy during his campaign for president.

He was known for his sense of humor and his quick wit.

He enjoyed learning, reading and crossword puzzles and had a real talent for remembering facts and details.

Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Emma, on July 22, 2004; and his son, Sam Jr., on Aug. 19, 2004.

He is survived by his sons Dave Hollis of Monterey, Calif., and Paul Hollis of Kalispell; and his daughter, Lorraine Weaver, of Newport, Ore.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 27, at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home, with the Rev. Darold Reiner officiating. Burial will follow at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, with military honors being conducted by the United Veterans of the Flathead Valley.
