Howard Stanley Henrickson, 87

Howard Stanley Henricksen, 87, succumbed peacefully to cancer on June 7, 2005, in Kalispell.

Howard was born in Kalispell on Feb. 1, 1918. He graduated from Flathead County High School in 1934 and then attended St. Olaf in Minnesota where he met his future wife, Marian Brewer. The two were married in 1946 and celebrated 40 years together.

He joined the Army in 1941 and fought in the Battle of the Bulge, and took part in both the crossing of the Rhine and the march to Berlin. He received the Bronze Star and numerous other medals and citations.

Howard started working for Henricksen Motors as a young man. He then went to work at Goodyear Tire Co. in North Dakota. Eventually he worked for Monarch Life Insurance Co. in Massachusetts and later in California.

Near and dear to Howard's heart was the Lions Club, where he worked long and hard into his retirement years. He was also an active member of the Elks Club.

He loved taking photographs and being with his family and friends. He had a great exuberance for life and everyone who knew him loved him.

He is survived by sons Scott Howard Henricksen of Kalispell and Raymond Andrew Henricksen of California; a sister, Leona Lenchow; a brother, Harry Henricksen; a twin brother, Homer Henricksen; and grandchildren Gordon, Tirzah and Iris.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Amanda Henricksen ; sisters Phyllis (Bolton) Felix and Nordis (Schuster) Jacobson; and brother Gordon Henricksen.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

Burial has already taken place.

Donations to hospice are suggested in lieu of flowers.
