Gallo tourney begins Wednesday

The 16th annual Ed Gallo Memorial Baseball Tournament will begin Wednesday with games at Memorial Park in Whitefish and Sapa-Johnsrud Field in Columbia Falls.

This year's field will consist of 10 team - (West Division) Glacier Twins, Libby Loggers, Kalispell Lakers, Pullman Posse and Spokane Dodgers; (East Division) Glasgow Reds, Kootenai Valley Rangers, Laurel Dodgers, Mission Valley Mariners and Mead Panthers of Spokane.

Nineteen games will be played at Memorial Park and seven at Sapa-Johnsrud Field. Play begins 9 a.m. daily after Wednesday with the final games starting at 8 p.m. All games are scheduled for seven innings.

The tournament runs four days, ending on June 25th.

Wednesday (June 22)

Memorial Field at Whitefish

11:45 a.m. - Libby vs. Kalispell; 2:30 p.m. - Mission Valley vs. Mead; 5:15 p.m. - Laurel vs. Glasgow; 8 p.m. - Glacier vs. Pullman.

Sapa-Johnsrud Field in Columbia Falls

3:45 p.m. - Spokane vs. Pullman; 6:30 p.m. - Mead vs. Kootenai Valley.

Thursday (June 23)

Memorial Field

9 a.m. - Mission Valley vs. Laurel; 11:45 a.m. - Kootenai Valley vs. Laurel; 2:30 p.m. - Kootenai Valley vs. Glasgow; Mead vs. Glasgow; 8 p.m. - Glacier vs. Spokane.

Sapa-Johnsrud Field

1 p.m. - Glacier vs. Kalispell; 3:45 p.m. - Pullman vs. Libby.

Friday (June 24)

Memorial Field

9 a.m. - Kalispell vs. Pullman; 11:45 a.m. - Kalispell vs. Spokane; 2:30 p.m. - Libby vs. Spokane; 5:15 p.m. - Glacier vs. Libby; 8 p.m. - West All-Stars vs. East All-Stars.

Sapa-Johnsrud Field

10:15 a.m. - Kootenai Valley vs. Mission Valley; 1 p.m. - Laurel vs. Mead; 3:45 p.m. - Glasgow vs. Mission Valley.

Saturday (June 25)

Third autocross Sunday at FVCC

The Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Sports Car Club of America will hold its third autocross of the season Sunday at the Flathead Valley Community College parking lot.

Registration runs from 8:30-10 a.m. Tech inspections end at 10:30, a drivers meeting starts at 10:30 with competition at 11. Call 261-3463 to pre-register if you can't meet the deadlines.

Autocross is a non-wheel-to-wheel competition where a driver negotiates a pre-determined course outlined by construction cones. The objective is to drive a car at its limits in a safe environment with the emphasis on learning the possibilities and limitations of the vehicle.
