A 16-year-old Kalispell-area girl died Thursday morning when her car was struck by a loaded dump truck.

Allison Fifield died at about 10 a.m. at the scene of the crash at the intersection of West Reserve Drive and Stillwater Road.

According to Sgt. Rick Parker of the Kalispell Police Department, eyewitnesses said the truck driver did not stop at a sign and crashed into the side of Fifield's Subaru Legacy.

Driver Andrew Johnson, 51, of Kalispell, is the owner of the dump truck, Parker said. He was not injured. His vehicle rolled, requiring the intersection to close for more than an hour as the load was cleared and the vehicle righted.

Fire departments from Kalispell and West Valley, and officers from the Flathead County Sheriff's Office and Montana Highway Patrol were dispatched.

Employees and equipment from nearby LHC Inc.'s contraction office and gravel pit assisted at the scene, though it was not the company's truck involved in the crash.

Kalispell police are investigating the accident. The Flathead County Attorney's Office is considering whether or not to charge Johnson.
