Aurie 'Maxine' King, 94

Aurie "Maxine" King, 94, passed away on Tuesday, May 3, 2005, at Brendan House in Kalispell.

Maxine was born on May 12, 1910, in Chinook, to Harry and Roena Lane Reser. When she was 8 years old, she moved to the Flathead Valley where she attended school, graduating from Flathead County High School in 1928.

Maxine married Clarence Preston in 1931; he passed away in 1933.

She married Robert Dean King on May 1, 1937. They lived for four years in the Flathead Valley before moving to the Los Angeles area.

Maxine worked for many years caring for children from broken homes. Through the years, she cared for 22 children, and considered them a part of her family. All of the children remained close to her throughout the years.

Maxine loved dancing, fishing, water skiing, gardening, especially children, playing the organ and being active in her community and her church.

She was a member of the Lakeside Chapel, Hockaday Center for the Arts, the Lakeside Community Club, was a Lutheran Home volunteer and a member of the Ladies of the Lakeside Chapel.

Maxine enjoyed birthday and anniversary parties.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, Clarence Preston, and Robert Dean King who passed away in 1999; and one brother, Russell.

She is survived by sisters, Marjie Bush and Helen Christian, both of Boise, Idaho; one son, Dean H. King of Receda, Calif.; and five grandsons and two granddaughters.

Graveside urn burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday May 6, 2005 at C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery . Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
