Montana Highway Patrol is investigating a crash at the bridge near Hungry Horse that severely injured the driver Sunday afternoon.

According to trooper Jim Hawkins, Robert Welch Sr., 26, of Hungry Horse went off the right shoulder of U.S. 2, hit a guardrail and rolled his vehicle. He was ejected and two children in the vehicle suffered minor injuries.

One reportedly tried to get out of the vehicle and became trapped by slipping between it and a tree. ALERT helicopter, Canyon Quick Response Unit, Columbia Falls fire department, and sheriff's deputies responded. Welch was flown to Kalispell Regional Medical Center, where he remained Monday.

Flathead County Sheriff's Office took a report of a toddler playing in the street, causing concern on West Cottonwood Drive.

Mail was stolen on East Evergreen Drive.

Near Destination RV, the driver of a truck reportedly almost flipped the vehicle twice. Another driver knocked down a fence on Emmons Creek Road. On Foy's Lake Road, a ponytailed driver reportedly hit a guardrail, rolled a Pontiac Grand Am, got out and pushed it back onto its tires, and drove away.

An assault was reported at Snowslip. A dispute arose on Rogers Lake Road where a man said he was trying to return some personal items to a woman who denied they are hers. They decided not to have any further contact with each other.
