A Flathead County sheriff s deputy responded Wednesday evening to a report of squatters that had set up camp on the shores of Spencer Lake, with a truck blocking access and tarps and other gear set up on the bank. It turned out that one of the campers was a runaway juvenile from Idaho and another was characterized by Idaho authorities as a habitual offender. The runaway was taken to a youth shelter and the other campers intended to pack up and leave.

There was a report of a boy, 16, assaulting his 11-year-old brother at a Cottonwood Drive residence Wednesday afternoon.

Soon after, there was a report of an assault at the Monster Pizza and video store in Lakeside.

A person reportedly made off with two cartons of cigarettes from the Woodland Quick Stop, prompting a shoplifting report.

A cellular telephone was reported stolen by an Orchard Ridge Road resident.

A Whitefish Stage Road resident reported Thursday morning that a stereo had been stolen from a car.

A theft of video games was reported at Wal-Mart.

About $500 and a jewelry box were reported stolen from an Ardell Drive home sometime within the last week.

There was a report of criminal mischief on Ranch Lane, involving the removal of a gate that would allow horses to escape.

A stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle on Ridgewood Drive sometime Wednesday night.

Kalispell police responded to a disturbance late Wednesday involving a man, 21, who was banging on doors and breaking things at a house on Sixth Street West. Officers found drug paraphernalia at the residence that may lead to charges against the man.

All of the windows were reportedly broken out of a vehicle that had been parked at the Eagles Club on First Street West sometime Wednesday night.

There was a report of vandalism to the bathroom at Lions Park.

Whitefish police arrested a woman, 23, for a contempt of court warrant after turning herself in at the police department.

A man, 18, was arrested for shoplifting from Super One Foods.

There was a report of a bear breaking into a garage at a home on Latigo Lane Wednesday night.

Thursday morning, a man, 22, turned himself in and was arrested on a contempt of court warrant.

There was a report of a junior high school girl flashing passing buses near the Columbia Avenue Bridge. The girl was counseled and sent home.

Police advise that Central Avenue will be closed from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. this morning because of construction work. The road will be closed again Sunday from 6 a.m. through 6 p.m. Monday for more construction.

Columbia Falls police received a report of criminal mischief on 13th Street West involving a flower bed being driven over by a car. Police suspect the incident was intentional.

A juvenile was arrested for shoplifting at Super One Foods.
