LEWISTOWN - Danni Paulson's season of dominance came to a fitting end Friday, a straight-set win over Havre's Amy McClain in the title match to win her second consecutive Class A singles championship.

"The score was 6-2, 6-1, but the match was much closer than that," Bulldogs coach Patrick Dryden said. "Anyone who thought that this would be easy underestimated Amy."

Paulson's victory helped propel the Whitefish Bulldogs to a third-place finish in girls play.

"That was our goal, to bring home a trophy from state," Dryden said. "We barely squeaked it out - we got some nice contributions from freshman Brielle Menegazzi, and that proved to be the difference between bringing home a trophy and coming home empty handed."

Dillon won its first girls tennis title with 22 points. Havre was second with 20 followed by Whitefish with 17. Lewistown's Devon Nelson and Alira Carpenter won the doubles championship.

In boys play, Havre ran away from the field for its sixth straight team title with 40 points. Bigfork was second with 20. The Blue Ponies' Marc Mariani and Gary Wagner successfully defended their doubles championship and Kyle Baltrusch won singles.
