Violet 'Vi' Morris, 87

Longtime Kalispell resident Violet "Vi" Morris passed away of natural causes Friday, April 22, 2005, in Spokane.

Vi was born March 28, 1918, in Wildrose, N.D., to Otto and Maggie Scherer. She was employed for nearly 30 years as a nurse at the Kalispell General Hospital, then later the Kalispell Regional Hospital.

Vi was a member and former ladies' auxiliary president of the Kalispell Eagles Club.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arvid Cox; son, Richard Cox; and daughter, Judy Kinshella; and her second husband, Edwin Morris.

Vi is survived by her sons, Jack Cox of Seattle, Gary Cox of Anchorage, Alaska, and Jay Morris, currently deployed to Kabul, Afghanistan; daughters, Barbara Namen of Polson, Kathy Johnson of Spokane, and Debra Hudson of Spokane. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Gilkison, of Wildrose, N.D.; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family plans to return Vi's ashes home to Kalispell in the spring of 2006 to be interred in the Woodlawn Cemetery.
