Girls from Columbia Falls and Whitefish dominated the Northern A All-State soccer selections. Libbys Sarah Valentine also earned a nod.

Seniors Lisa Carter, Vanessa Almanza and junior Sarah Franck were the standouts for the Wildkat team. Columbia Falls and Libby each lost in the first round of the playoffs.

Whitefish placed second this year, losing to Belgrade 1-0 in the state final. The Lady Dogs had a good season behind the play and leadership of juniors Kirstin NallyMadigan, Jen Joern and Amy Wright. Joern couldnt finish the season because of an injury.

For the boys, state champion Columbia Falls had three players earn all state honors. Lee Kizer, Cory Pete and Guy Smith performed well for the Wildcats who defeated Billings Central 2-1 for the title in overtime.

Erik Torgerson of Bigfork, Riley Hoyer of Libby and Nate Breese of Whitefish also made the all state list.
