Arlynne Therese Crandall, 39

Arlynne Therese Crandall was born the youngest of nine children Jan. 4, 1966, in Houston. Arlynne grew up in a busy, boisterous home. The year after her birth she moved to Missoula. At the age of 10, she moved to Santa Rosa, Calif., where she graduated from Ursuline High School in 1985.

She love athletics and participated in numerous sports throughout her lifetime. Her love for basketball began in the fourth grade where she participated on an all boys' team. She scored 126 points that year.

She was struck with cancer in her sophomore year, lost a lung and lost the ability to do much of the things she loved, Her strong will, determination and good health care got her through this brush with death.

Arlynne attended SDU, San Francisco State, and graduated from Sacramento State in education.

This was Arlynne's fourth year at Davis Senior High and she devoted her entire self to her career teaching photography and art history. She loved her job and her students — it was her life. In the few short years that she taught she had accomplished so much. She was the art department chair, Pathways co-coordinator and senior-class adviser.

She also loved golf, swimming, tennis, Rollerblading, football, soccer, writing, poetry, museums and all forms of art. She made annual summer visits to Montana to visit family and enjoy the outdoors.

Arlynne never had children of her own, but took a passionate interest in her 21 nieces and nephews, following their sports, academics, music, and personal lives — Joey, Sam, Nick, Breanna, Becky, Rob, Jayme, Lindsay, Lauren, Kyle, Corey, Amanda, Sarah, Hannah, Brian, Yvonne, Rachel, Marc, Hans, Dmitri and Kira.

Arlynne died Nov. 12, 2005, in the morning, riding her bike on the greenbelt doing what she loved in the city that she loved.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Ann Crandall, and infant brother, Arthur.

She leaves behind her father, Arthur Vondal Crandall, of Kalispell; siblings, Michelle Dauenhauer and Roxanne Baker, both of Kalispell, Bill Crandall of Missoula, Rob Crandall of Leonardtown, Md., Mimi Lampert of Puyallup, Wash., Beth Rotteveel of Dixon, Calif., and Yvonne Petrunin of Wilsonville, Ore.

A memorial service was held Thursday, Nov. 17, at the Davis Senior High School.
