Sale to benefit cancer group

| October 16, 2005 1:00 AM

The third annual sale of high-quality secondhand items to benefit breast cancer takes place Friday and Saturday, Oct. 21 and 22, in Bigfork.

Organizer Susan Gorbett along with volunteer Soroptimists will open the doors from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for donations on Thursday at the Bethany Lutheran Youth Center at 8559 Montana 35.

In keeping with other years, Gorbett said they would like donations of high-quality clothing, jewelry and home items. Proceeds benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Research Foundation's Montana affiliate.

Examples of items available for sale in previous years included leather goods, designer clothes, quilts and handcrafted soaps. Gorbett said a $2,000 racing bike has been donated this year.

The sale takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday and Saturday in the youth center just behind Bethany Lutheran Church, located just east of the Montana 209 intersection with Montana 35.

Call Gorbett at 837-2007.
