Flathead Valley Community College has offered a year of free education to community college students displaced by hurricane Katrina.

"In spite of the hardships these students have endured, we want to provide them an opportunity to continue their education with as little disruption as possible," Jane Karas, college president, said.

College officials said the students will receive a year of education without tuition or fees.

A press release from the college said offer was part of a community college's mission to respond to the needs of community, noting that many residents here have friends and families impacted by Katrina.

College staff will also help locate temporary housing for these students. For more information, contact Marlene Stoltz at 756-3846.
