This time, officers took keys from a man whom they didn't think should be driving and offered some wisdom about the men's behavior.

Two people were in a crash near the airport at 9:49, with the same three agencies responding. The Kalispell department also checked out a smoke smell reported in a home on College Avenue.

arrested a man Tuesday after he allegedly stole a puppy from the animal shelter and wound up running over it with his car. Daniel Staggs, 18, is charged with taking a black Labrador from the shelter and fleeing in a black Ford Probe. Animal Warden Paul Charbanneau reportedly saw the vehicle and followed it through town. On Meridian Road, Staggs reportedly opened his car door and threw out the puppy. According to a police report, the dog lost its footing when it landed or ran beneath the car and was killed. Sgt. Wade Rademacher said Staggs is charged with theft.

The Flathead County Sheriff's Department is investigating the disappearance of an employee, along with a company car, from Artisan Doors of Montana, a business located on U.S. 93 south of Kalispell. The vehicle was reported stolen Friday morning and the missing employee had apparently provided his employer with a false address and other personal information.
Flathead generosity still shines
The lights are shining brightly in the Lighthouse Christian Home after the success of its "Swingin' on High Concert and Dance" on March 18 at The Lodge at Whitefish Lake. Thanks to the generosity of the community, proceeds from the home's first large fundraiser since its reorganization in 2004 were twice as much as expected and will provide about 20 percent of its annual operating costs, said program manager Shirley Willis.
