Joe Edward Halm, 86

Joe Edward Halm, 86, of Kalispell, Bigfork and Hawaii, died June 24, 2006. He was born March 20, 1920.

As a very young man, Joe worked with the Forest Service at Haugen Nursery and lookouts in Lolo National Forest.

Joe graduated with the Air Force 41G during World War II and taught cold weather testing in Fairbanks, Alaska, and warm weather testing in Blythe, Calif.

Joe was captain at Pacific Northern Air Lines in Alaska, Western Air Lines and retired as a captain from Delta.

He was a Shriner.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe B. and Esther Halm; wife, Mary Jean Halm; and son, Bill Halm.

Joe is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Johnson of Fairbanks, Alaska, and Mary Jo of Comins of Eugene, Ore.; sister, Ruth Nutter, of Bigfork; brother, Glenn H. Halm, of Florence; and seven grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at a later date in Fairbanks.
