The Marine Corps Auxiliary will conduct a memorial service at 6 p.m. Sunday at the veterans monument in C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery. The public is invited to join in honoring deceased veterans.

Memorial Day events

-The United Veterans of Flathead County will hold Memorial Day events throughout the valley Monday, May 29.

Floral tributes by a ritual team member, a rifle salute and "Taps" are included in each ceremony.

Events begin at Whitefish. The parade lineup starts at 9:15 a.m. at Central School, and the parade gets under way at 9:30 a.m. Two ceremonies are planned in Whitefish. The first is scheduled for 9:45 a.m. at the Second Street Bridge. The second begins at 10:15 a.m. at Whitefish Cemetery.

. noon, Depot Park, Kalispell

. 1 p.m., C.E. Conrad Memorial Cemetery, Kalispell

. 1:45 p.m., Fairview Cemetery, Columbia Falls

. 2:30 p.m., Veterans Memorial Wall, Marantette Park, Columbia Falls

. 3 p.m., Woodlawn Cemetery, Columbia Falls

. 3:30 p.m., Montana Veterans Home Cemetery, Columbia Falls

United Veterans comprises all veterans organizations in the valley. These include Veterans of Foreign Wars, Disabled American Veterans, American Legion, Marine Corps League and their auxiliaries, and the National Guard. Any member of any unit may participate in United Veterans meetings and become a member of the Honor Guard.

-Columbia Falls VFW Post 5650 invites the public to its annual presentation of veterans plaques at 11 a.m. Monday at Columbia Falls Marantette Park.

-Fairview Cemetery's annual Memorial Day service begins at 1:45 p.m. Monday with the honor guard, followed by a ceremony commencing at 2 p.m. Kelly Hartman will officiate.

The cemetery is located at 1225 Fairview Cemetery Road in Columbia Falls.

-A memorial remembrance of the Capt. John F. Eaheart, a U.S. Marine Corps pilot, will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday on U.S. 93 at the Dayton scenic overlook near Lakeside.

Capt. Eaheart was killed May 21, 1960, when his F-9F Cougar crashed into Flathead Lake. His remains recently were found on the lake floor and are scheduled to be brought up soon.

The Museum of Mountain Flying and Marine Corps League will conduct a ceremony, including the presentation of colors and a rifle salute.

The public is welcome to attend.
