Matthias 'Matt' Strack, 90

Matthias "Matt" Strack, 90, passed away Oct. 20, 2006, of natural causes at his home in Missoula. He was born Feb. 8, 1916, in Wibaux to Anton and Rosalie Strack.

On Sept. 1, 1938, he married Marcella (Duffy) at St. Matthew's Church in Kalispell. The couple recently marked their 68th anniversary.

Matt worked for Consolidated Freightways for 39 years before he retired.

He enjoyed fishing, bowling and camping.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters; two brothers; a son, Gregory; and a daughter, Rita Steinke.

Matt is survived by his loving wife, Marcella; his son, Richard of Tucson; daughters, Sharon and Bob Burgad of Missoula, Kay Petroff of Sidney, Australia, and Betty Anderson and Mark of Missoula; one brother, John, of Boise, Idaho; and one sister, Katie McKinley, of Kalispell. He has 17 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Cremation has taken place. Funeral services will be held at 12:10 p.m. Nov. 2, at St. Matthew's Church in Kalispell, followed by a luncheon. Burial will be held at a later date.

Donations may be given to St. Matthew's School.

The family wishes to especially thank the wonderful hospice staff for comforting Mathias during his last week of his life.
