Maurice Edward Kellogg Johnson, M.D., 88

Maurice Edward Kellogg Johnson, M.D., died Sept. 19, 2006.

He was born in East Lansing, Mich., on May 15, 1918, to Maurice F. and Hazel J. Johnson. From a very early age, he wanted to be a medical doctor. He moved to Havre at age 14. He graduated from the University of Washington in 1940 and from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1943. He entered the U.S. Army in 1944 and served in the South Pacific.

He married Rita Almas in 1944 and moved to Kalispell in 1950. He practiced medicine for more than 50 years.

Dr. Johnson is survived by his wife at the family home; daughters, Ann Johnson of Yellowstone National Park, Wyo., Dr. Marise Johnson of Kalispell, and Ellen Johnson and husband, Dan Olsen; and grandchildren, Reid and Evan Olsen of Portland.

There will be a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23, at the Buffalo Hills Conference Center at Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
