Traffic stops result in arrests

| April 8, 2007 1:00 AM

Kalispell police arrested a number of people during traffic stops Friday and Saturday.

Twice, traffic stops resulted in four arrests. In one stop, a 24-year-old woman was arrested on a felony warrant, a 19-year-old woman was arrested for possessing drugs and drug paraphernalia, another 19-year-old woman was arrested for obstructing an officer and minor in possession of alcohol, and a 14-year-old girl was arrested for MIP.

Then it was the guys' turn. One boy, who fled when police pulled the car over, was shot with a Taser, and medical help was called to remove the probe. He and the other three in the vehicle were arrested, all for MIP. The runner was also charged with obstructing an officer and resisting arrest.

A 19-year-old woman was arrested on a warrant, as was a man in a separate stop. A 19-year-old man was arrested for possessing drug paraphernalia. A 56-year-old woman was arrested for drunken driving.

Police received four calls about rowdy Finishline patrons in the wee hours of Saturday morning. In the last one, a 23-year-old man needed stitches after being jumped by several men he didn't know. He went to the emergency room that night and again the next day for head pain.

Two men bought groceries at Smith's Food & Drug and loaded them, cart and all, into a truck. They were arrested for theft; one was also charged with drunken driving.

No one was injured in the accident at the intersection of Third Avenue and Seventh Street West, but a tow truck was needed to clear the road.
