Kalispell police fielded plenty of calls about thefts from cars. On Fifth Avenue West, a broken sunroof and dome light signaled the loss of a stereo, 100 CDs and a checkbook. On East California, it was an attempt to steal a stereo but completed as a theft of CDs. On Seventh Avenue WN, a passenger window was broken. On Second Avenue WN, it was a few dollars and a BMX bicycle.

Mayhem ruled the 911 hang-up call when a man would not give his location but said someone was trying to kill someone, and a woman was screaming in the background. There was a reference to Woodland Park and the railroad tracks, so police and sheriff's deputies both headed that way, eventually talking with a man and a woman near Pacific Steel.

A report of a 2-year-old child left in a vehicle at a Woodland Park pavilion for as long as two hours, strapped in a car seat, resulted in the adult involved being served with an outstanding warrant. The situation with the child was remedied.

A man sleeping in a vehicle near Samaritan House got a rude awakening when he was served with an outstanding warrant by the officer who went to check on the snooze complaint.

Help went to a man lying on U.S. 93 at Reserve Drive early Monday. He was looking for a ride home to Whitefish. He explored other options.

OxyContin was reported stolen from a Kenway Drive home.

A man knocking on a woman's door offered to paint her house number on the curb. She refused. He painted it anyway and came back to ask for $20. She refused again. But her son was concerned, because the painter said he was with the city of Kalispell.

An elderly man on a three-wheeled bicycle rode it down the center of traffic at North Main and West Idaho.

A man said he met two woman at an area pub, and that they stole $300 from him.

A man who said he was assaulted near Flathead High wanted to press charges.

Best Buy had a would-be customer who tried to pass a counterfeit traveler's check Monday. She had no luck there.
