Assault with a weapon and possession of dangerous drugs were the two biggest warrant arrests, for a combined $30,000 bail, that came when Flathead County sheriff's deputies tracked down a 28-year-old man after a disturbance reported in Hungry Horse early Monday. He said someone beat him up; a woman said he illegally took her car. At first he refused medical attention, then was arrested on warrants, then agreed to receive medical help, but treatment was refused when he raised a ruckus at the hospital. Other charges against him were DUI, driving on a suspended license, obstructing a peace officer and disorderly conduct.

An ex-boyfriend reportedly spit in a woman's face and pushed her at Twin Acres after midnight. The 29-year-old man took off, but deputies tracked him down and jailed him on counts of partner or family member assault, criminal mischief, DUI, driving with a suspended license and having no liability insurance.

Twenty monuments were paintballed in vandalism reported Sunday afternoon at Conrad Cemetery.

A couple's attempt to cross Brush Creek Divide in a two-wheel-drive pickup failed Saturday night. After attempts to walk out, an unplanned overnight in the woods, and eventual contact with friends as well as search-and-rescue crews, they returned safely Sunday.

The dog which had just taken a walk with a 14-year-old girl and a cat returned Sunday evening - alone. One concerned call to the Sheriff's Office and a quick search later, the girl, and presumably her cat, were located at a neighbor's house.

Controlled burns continued to spark concern about potentially uncontrolled fires across the valley. No harm done yet.

Somebody seemed irritated, reported a driver who had a tailgater flashing bright headlights and finally leaving on their brights just before midnight. Kalispell police took over the call.

A chain saw went missing from a vehicle parked at the Super 8 Motel in Columbia Heights.

An iPod at Evergreen Junior High once was stolen but now is returned.

Doors were forced open and residents returned to find somebody had gone through their homes in three different locations during the day Monday - on Park Loop and Bear Creek Road in Bigfork, and on Cramer Creek in Somers.
