Woman reports sex assault

Flathead County sheriff's deputies investigated a 43-year-old woman's report that she had been sexually assaulted after being drugged Tuesday night. She had visited a couple Whitefish bars with two groups of friends, she said, then after some time awoke partially undressed at a strange house. She drove herself home and called the Sheriff's Office.

The east side of the Old Steel Bridge became less than family-friendly Tuesday afternoon when one person stood guard outside the restroom door while two others reportedly had sex inside. The caller said the three had simply been fishing earlier.

Detectives discovered more stolen items during their ongoing investigation into the rash of burglaries across the Flathead since Thursday. Initially it was thought to have been 10 burglaries, but another one reported last Thursday was added to the list Wednesday.

Deputies expected only to serve a misdemeanor warrant for driving with a suspended license when they discovered that the 24-year-old man also had failed to register as a sex offender. He was jailed for violating terms of his suspended sentence on that felony count.

Somebody in an older white Chevrolet was reported shooting toward a woman's property Tuesday evening on Rhodes Draw.

Two electric shopping carts valued at $3,000 each were stolen from Super 1 Foods in Evergreen, and later found in a field southwest of Shopko with the baskets bent and the seats removed.

An abandoned dog was reported tied outside at a recently vacated house in Hungry Horse.

A checkbook was stolen from a Happy Valley resident, and checks are being forged and passed at businesses.

Two men reportedly fought over a woman, with one man eventually taking a baseball bat to the other's motorcycle.

Super 1 Foods said a man crawled into the cigarette and video rental area at night and stole 14 cartons of cigarettes.
