Plows made further progress on Glacier National Park's Going-to-the-Sun Road this week until foul weather hindered those efforts on Thursday.

That weather put the west-side crew back to lower parts of the road to carry on with debris cleanup. By the end of Wednesday, the crew had advanced to the Road Camp area about 3 miles beyond the Loop.

The crew also had to work on clearing an avalanche that crossed the road just below the Road Camp area.

East of Logan Pass, plows were working in the Siyeh Bend area.

Hikers and bikers can travel beyond the vehicle gates at Lake McDonald Lodge and Rising Sun. While road crews are working, they can travel as far as the Avalanche Campground area and as far as the St. Mary Falls trailhead.

On weekends when crews are not working, hikers can go beyond those closures, but are advised to be aware of wildlife and avalanche hazards.

On Friday, the park announced that the entire length of the Two Medicine Road has been opened. Last week, about 6.5 miles of the Kintla Road north of Polebridge was opened.

The status of most of the park's other major roads has not changed. The Chief Mountain, Many Glacier, Camas and Inside North Fork Roads remain closed to vehicle travel.
