Zuma M. West, 95

Zuma M. West, 95, passed away Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, at Mountain View Manor in Eureka. Zuma was born May 13, 1912, in Springfield, Mo., to Oren and Jessie (Cook) Andrews. At an early age, the family moved to Southern California where Zuma graduated high school.

She married Larry West in Los Angeles, on Nov. 16, 1934. He preceded her in death in 2001.

Zuma lived in El Monte, Calif., from 1934 until 1997 when she moved to Eureka to be near her daughter and grandchildren. She told the family many stories about how Southern California grew up with her.

One of Zuma's biggest interests was doing handiwork. She also enjoyed gardening and will always be remembered for her strong-willed independence.

Zuma was preceded in death by her parents; and husband Larry.

She is survived by her daughter, Ora, and husband Jack Bullock of Eureka; grandchildren, Bret and wife Kim Bullock and family, Loren Bullock, and Pam and husband Andy Martinez; and nine great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at Glacier Memorial Gardens with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating. Buffalo Hill Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the family.
