Ann Marie Anderson, 73

Ann Marie Anderson, 73, of Sun City, Ariz., passed away peacefully Aug. 4, 2007, at home with family at her bedside.

Ann battled cancer with the same selflessness, resolve and quiet dignity that defined her life. To her family and countless friends whom she loved and adored, Ann was grounded, quick-witted, modest, vibrant and fun-loving. Above all, Ann was authentic and accessible. She was a loyal, constant and steady presence to all of those whom she touched. She made everyone feel special.

An always was willing to raise her hands to help others. Even while battling her disease, she donated time to the First Presbyterian Church of Sun City, the Boswell Hospital and to the Arizona Supreme Court on issues related to child protection.

She loved playing the piano, line dancing, her Red Hat Club, her bowling league, reading and working crossword puzzles. She most especially loved her time with those closest to her.

Although born in Wilmer, Minn., Ann's journey also brought her to Montana, California and Arizona. With a bachelor's degree in education and master's in social work, Ann's life was dedicated to the service of others as a teacher, and as a social worker for the Child Protective Services for the state of Montana for 20 years. Ann also owned an antiques business in Kalispell and Lindstrom, Minn. In her spare time, she was a reporter for the Chisago County Press.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Bill Trumbull and Dorthy Spindler Trumbull.

Ann is survived by her husband, Ken Anderson, of Sun City, Ariz.; and brothers, Tom Trumbull of Bigfork, and Mike Trumbull of Las Cruces, N.M. Her eight sons are Dan Welch of Oak Grove, Minn., Michael Welch of Forest Lake, Minn., Scott Anderson of Minneapolis, Todd Anderson of Rosemount, Minn., Jeff Anderson of Kalispell, Greg Anderson of Louisville, Ohio, Paul Anderson of Seattle, and Terry Anderson of Olympia, Wash. 'Granny Annie also is survived by 10 grandchildren, Alison Welch, Brian Welch, Shane Anderson, Kayla Bulera, Kellie Welch, Emma Anderson, Towner Anderson, Aspen Anderson, Megan Anderson and Annika Anderson. Nieces and nephews include Anne Trumbull of Highlands Ranch, Colo., Nancy Trumbull of Spokane, and Monte Trumbull of Evansville, Wyo.

Ann was exceptional. She was loved deeply and will be profoundly missed.

Services will be held at 11 a.m Friday, Aug. 17, at Elim Lutheran Church in Scandia, Minn.
