Kalispell police followed up on a report Monday from a woman who said she saw a driver turn and punch or hit someone riding in the back seat. Officers tracked down the suspect and found out the victim was a dog who started eating the driver's groceries in the back seat.

It was a long day for workers Monday at a construction site on Taylor Road. The contracting company reported finding their outdoor facility, rented from Pee Wee's Porta-potties, "burned to the ground."

A bear cub was reported approaching Pathways Treatment Center near midnight Sunday. The young cub apparently changed his mind about therapy and was gone when police arrived.

Two trusting people learned not to leave valuables in unlocked cars this weekend. A driver lost a wallet with credit cards and cash from a car on Seventh Avenue West and another lost a guitar out of a car while in Sawbuck Saloon & Casino.
