Forrest Dale 'Frosty' Horstman, 71

Forrest Dale "Frosty" Horstman, 71, passed away Aug. 14, 2007. Frosty was born Sept. 5, 1935, in Kalispell, to Bernard "Barney" and Evelyn (Sally Getchell) Horstman.

Frosty married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Wisherd, on Aug. 14, 1954, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. Their marriage was blessed with five children, Vicki, Jack, Kim, Dawn and Brett.

Frosty was a member of the Flathead Search and Rescue.

He worked at the Anaconda Aluminum plant as an electrician from 1955 to 1963. He then moved to Tri-Cities, Wash., to work for Hanford. In 1967, the family moved to Bellingham, Wash., where Frosty worked for Intalco Aluminum plant as a meter instrument technician, from 1967 to 1977. In 1977, Frosty, Shirley, and sons moved back to the Flathead where Frosty was shop foreman for McElroy and Wilken and owned his own trucking business. He leased trucks to McElroy and Wilken from 1977 to 2001.

Frosty was preceded in death by both of his parents, and best friend, Delbert Wilken.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Shirley Mae, of 53 years; daughters, Vicki and husband, Wayne Wray, of Everett, Wash., Kim and husband, Frank Ortenzio, of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Dawn Wickingstad of Kalispell; and sons, Brett Horstman, and Jack and his wife, Hope Horstman, of Kalispell. He was a loving "Papa" to his grandchildren, Nicolette Orkney, Jessica and Jon Wray, David Wickingstad, and Travis, Justin and Shannon Horstman. He is also survived by his stepmother, Opal Horstman; brothers, Ed and wife Kathy, Alan and wife Carol, and Harlan; and sister, Jeannie, and husband, Terry Dodson. Frosty also leaves behind a loving extended family and many friends.

Frosty's family would like to thank Drs. Beal, Winkle, Stutzman and Boehme, all the nurses, and special friend, Wendy. The family would also like to express their gratitude to the special people at Hospice, Lon, Sue, Pat and Lori.

Frosty's family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to either Hospice or the American Cancer Society in Frosty's memory. Per Frosty's request, there will be no formal service, but a celebration of life will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, at the Elks Lodge.
