Iverson medals, Glacier golfers second
Whitefish boys 3rd, girls 4th at Great Falls Invitational

GREAT FALLS - It was a memorable beginning for Glacier High School's golf program.
The Wolfpack finished with the meet medalist at the Great Falls Invitational on Tuesday and placed second in the team standings to open the season on a very high note.
Larry Iverson III shot a 72 on the final day at Eagle Falls Golf Course to finish the 36-hole event with a 149 total and a one-shot victory over Josh Hedge of Billings West.
Hedge led Monday's session at Meadow Lark County Club with a 74.
Iverson, a junior at Glacier, shot 77 on opening day.
West finished on top of the standings with a 630 score. Glacier was seven shots back in second place and Whitefish placed third, 646.
Glacier had two golfers in the top 10 as Grahm Schmaltz tied for eighth at 157. Schmaltz shot 77 and 80.
Whitefish was led by Daniel Marcus, 81-71-152, who finished third. He was the lone WHS golfer for the boys to crack the top 10.
"He had the low round for the tournament," WHS coach Terry Nelson said of Marcus' 71.
"Even par (at Eagle Falls). He shot 35 on the front, 36 on the back, just real steady. He had four birdies, which was good."
Whitefish's Sam Krause, who opened with a 77 on Monday, shot 84 on Tuesday.
Flathead placed 14th in the boys' standings with a 695 total. The Braves were led by Jaden Treece, 87-75-162. Treece shot a 32 on the front nine at Eagle Falls.
The Bozeman girls took the team title, 720, followed by West, 730, C.M. Russell, 737, and Whitefish, 738.
Glacier was ninth, 831, and Flathead 15th, 885.
Morgan Lee of Great Falls High was the medalist, 82-85-167, with Whitefish's Chelsea Ray second, 87-85-172.
"Just real steady, putted real well," Nelson said of Ray's final round.
"She struggled a little bit in the wind. She hits the ball high, so the wind was affecting it. She was real happy with her putting."
Nelson said BreAnna Cameron finished with a strong round, shooting 88. Cameron opened with a 95.
Karli Aurich was Glacier's top scorer, 91-98-189, while Betsy Engle paced Flathead, 101-98-199.
Glacier, Flathead and Whitefish will compete in the Missoula Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. Whitefish will also be in action later this week, at the Ronan Invitational on Thursday.
