Krause, Ray lead way for Whitefish golfers

MISSOULA - Sam Krause of Whitefish used a 3-under par 68 to take the first day lead in individual play at the Missoula Invitational golf tournament on Monday at the Missoula Country Club.
Krause holds a four-shot advantage on Brian Beach of Missoula Big Sky and Austin Dean of Billings West.
West leads the team standings, 302, with Billings Senior second, 307, and Whitefish third, 309.
In girls' play, Chelsea Ray was one of three Whitefish players to break the top 10 individually, helping the Lady Bulldogs hold down second place in the team standings.
Ray shot an 82, which was the second best round of the day. Whitney Lamb of Missoula Hellgate opened with an 80.
Whitefish's Quinn Micklewright is sitting seventh with an 87 and Breanna Cameron is ninth with a 90.
West leads with a 354 team total. Whitefish follows at 356 with Butte in third, 380.
