Wolfpack on top; Iverson owns low scoreat golf tourney

HELENA - The Glacier High School boys' golf team, led by junior Larry Iverson III, had another strong outing Monday at the Helena Invitational.
Iverson turned in the best round of the day, a 68 at Green Meadow Country Club, to help the Wolfpack hold down the No. 1 spot in the team standings with a 295 total.
Bozeman checked in with the second-best score, 308, followed by Helena High, 316 and C.M. Russell, 317.
Flathead was sitting in seventh place, 338.
Glacier has four players in the top 10 in individual play. Justin Newton shot 74, which was the fourth best score on opening day, Aaron Young had a 76, which ties him for sixth place, and Grahm Schmaltz turned in a 77, putting him in a four-way tie for eighth place.
Jaden Treece had the best showing for Flathead with an 80.
In girls' play at Bill Roberts Golf Course, Bozeman shot a 336 followed by C.M. Russell, 369, and Glacier, 384. Flathead is sixth, 414.
Karli Aurich's 86 was three shots off the pace. That puts the Glacier golfer in a tie for fifth place. Rikka Holiday of Bozeman shot 83 to lead the way.
Betsy Engle shot 97 for Flathead's top effort.
Play continues today with the boys playing Bill Roberts Golf Course and the girls at Green Meadow Country Club.
Iverson last week was the medalist at the Great Falls Invitational, the season opener. He shot 77-72-149 for a one-stroke victory over Josh Hedge of Billings West.
On the team front, Glacier finished second to West.
