The Flathead County Weed and Parks Board will hold another meeting Monday on the proposed Lakeshore Boulevard Park in Lakeside at 8 a.m.

The public is welcome to attend the meeting at the Weed and Parks Conference Room at 311 FFA Drive in Kalispell.

The controversy began last month after a Lakeside landowner approached the county and offered to lease 65 feet of lakefront property for $600 a year for 30 years.

The landowner came to the county with the lease agreement with the stipulations that the land be used for public benefit and that he remain anonymous.

The intent was to offer the public another point of access to Flathead Lake. The property is located on the north end of Lakeshore Boulevard, just below the Little Red School House and a county right-of-way.

Plans for the park include a dock, a swimming area and two parking spaces.

Some neighbors, however, are concerned that the small size of the property, increased traffic and parking dangers will be problem for public safety.

Opponents are calling for the county to rescind the lease.
