Glacier sophs down Stillwater

Kayla Corpron led all scorers with 15 points and the Glacier sophomores used a big second quarter to gain some breathing room en route to a 45-37 victory Tuesday over Stillwater Christian School's varsity at Glacier.

Glacier, up 7-5 after the first period, outscored Stillwater 15-7 in the second stanza to lead 22-12 at the half.

Stillwater closed the gap to four points, 30-26, after three quarters, but Glaicer held on.

Stillwater's Abby Smith and Amanda Nichols along with Glacier's Anna Lubeck finished with 10 points each.

Nichols and Smith finished with eight and six rebounds, respectively.

"We had a great second half," Stillwater coach Denise Topp said.

"We came from down 10 at half to get within three at the end before we had to start fouling them to stop the clock."

Glacier's BJ Corpron finished with 13 points and was the game's only double-figurer scorer.

The Wolfpack led 9-3 and 24-15 after the first two quarter stops.

"We did a good job of playing tough in the paint and improved on our free-throw shooting, but struggled to organize any kind of productive offense," Stillwater coach Dana Hashley said.

Stillwater (0-3) was led offensively by Ryan Thompson and Jon Harrel, both with seven points.

Mario Venturini pulled down nine rebounds for Glacier (1-2).
