David Eugene Walhus, 75

David Eugene Walhus, 75, of Kalispell, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007, at his home in Kalispell. He was born on Dec. 29, 1931, in Spring Grove, Minn., to Enoch Arnold and Grace Irene (Johnson) Walhus.

David married Lorraine Kramer on Jan. 31, 1953, in Milan, Minn. The couple moved to the Berg Ranch in eastern Montana where David was a ranch foreman. This was a place he loved. They then moved to Puyallup, Wash., where David worked for Boeing.

In 1965, they moved to the Flathead Valley to raise their four children. David worked for Plum Creek. After retirement they spent half the year in the Flathead and the other half in Apache Junction, Ariz. He loved his Norwegian Fjord horses, hunting, fishing and gardening. Every year he had to make lefse and lutefisk for Christmas.

David was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Alden.

He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; four children, Jeanette Piersall and husband Don of Port Orford, Ore., Greg Walhus and wife Julie of Whitefish, Bruce Walhus and wife Susan of Columbia Falls, and Haakon and wife Victoria BrayWalhus of Kalispell; grandchildren, Matt, Becky and Jessica Walhus, Daryl Walhus and wife Crystal, and Angie and Chuck Walhus; along with great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Beau, A.J., Cole and Gabby Walhus. David is also survived by his sister-in-law, Hazel Walhus, of Columbia Falls; brother-in-law, Leonard Kramer, of Milan; and nephews, Tony Walhus and wife Elvira and daughter, Grace, of Great Falls, and Lee Walhus and wife Karen of Colorado.

Memorial services for David will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at the Stillwater Free Lutheran Church with Pastor Tim Bartholomew officiating.
