JoAnn Welles, 80, passed away peacefully in her home in Whitefish on Dec. 17, 2007.

Jo was born in Beloit, Wisc., on Feb. 8, 1927, where she lived most of her life. In 1994 she moved to Whitefish to be with her son, John Holt and was soon followed by her daughter, Ann Wood.

Jo enjoyed her volunteer work with various organizations including Habitat for Humanity, the Mash Bash, the Spring Fling and her latest involvement with the gift shop at North Valley Hospital.

She loved her family, pets, her many good friends and especially her Monday 'Stitch and Bitch' get togethers! She had many interests, including environmental issues, politics, home design, gardening, being outdoors and travel.

She is survived by her son, John and Ginny Holt; her daughter, Anne and Jim Wood; and step-daughter, Barbara Welles Rasmussen. She also leaves behind her beloved pets, Bubba, Maggie and Sammy.

Jo will be remembered, with love, for her buoyant spirit, big heart, great sense of humor and generosity.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
